Ms. Hearn advises and represents clients in a broad range of matters including business transactions, intellectual property development and licensing, trademark and copyright protection strategies, and commercial lease negotiations. Ms. Hearn's practice encompasses a variety of business sectors, such as food service, travel, internet, publishing, and various service industries.
Formerly, Ms. Hearn was Assistant General Counsel for Travelocity.com, where she provided intellectual property and general corporate legal advice to all levels of the company. Before working for Travelocity, she was Associate Counsel in the Boulder internet startup company NetLibrary, Inc., where she focused on trademark, copyright, and licensing issues, and was a litigation associate at a large Denver law firm.
Ms. Hearn received a degree in Accounting from Phillips University in 1978 and became a licensed CPA in 1981, a field in which she practiced for several years. In 1995, she graduated from the University of Colorado School of Law, where she served on the University of Colorado Law Review as a casenote and comment editor. Her first year of post-graduate work was at the Colorado Court of Appeals, as law clerk to Chief Judge Alan Sternberg.
Ms. Hearn has been a Division Director of the ABA's Section of Litigation since 2002 and formerly chaired the Section's Intellectual Property Committee from 1999-2002. She was an adjunct professor of Intellectual Property at Texas Wesleyan School of Law, Fort Worth, Texas, in Fall 2003, and is a frequent speaker at national and local bar conferences on the subjects of the internet and intellectual property.
Ms. Hearn is admitted to practice in Colorado and Texas, is a licensed CPA in Colorado, and a member of the ABA, the Texas Bar Association, the International Trademark Association, and the Colorado Society of CPA's.
